CIFORs Global Comparative REDD Study
2010
In 2010, the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) is initiating its activities for the Comparative Global Study of initiatives for the Reduction of Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (GCS-REDD). The project, whose principal donor is the Norwegian Development Corporation, will initially be carried out in countries such as Brazil, Bolivia, Cameroon, Tanzania, Indonesia, and Vietnam. At least three more countries, one of them in Latin America, will enter the project by 2012. The work is divided into four simultaneous, inter-related components. These involve an analysis of REDD policies and procedures, observation and documentation of implementation activities and projects and their impact, the development of reference levels and monitoring, and wide dissemination of research results.
